Rubbersheeting Overlays Unattended

A typical mapping problem involves the rubber sheet correction of a group of drawings created as Overlays such as Water, Sewer and Storm Drain. Each overlay feature is drawing in relation to a “master” basemap – the Landbase.

Now consider the situation where inaccuracies are discovered in the Landbase. A typical correction plan would include the collection of new coordinates for known points in the basemap. These become the Calibration Pairs ADJUST will use to rubber sheet the landbase.

The more points the better – one of our in-house projects was for the City of Ceres California. We created over 62,500 calibrations pairs. Once all calibration pairs were collected, ADJUST was used in Batch mode using MapTools Commander to rubber sheet all overlays using the same calibration data.
